The Opportunities

As The Cascadia Peace Development Fund develops, we will be considering a variety of peacebuilding program types in which to invest. Some of those opportunities are listed below.

International Relations

Opportunities to fund programs impacting international relations including conferences and symposia; university curricula; documentary film and television programming; certification programs for policy professionals; research in partnership with groups such as the World Health Organization; publication of books and professional articles; audio programming; resource center (including web) development; and more.

Conflict Risk Areas

Opportunities to fund programs impacting areas at risk for conflict including microlending initiatives; public health training; public workshops; university curricula; documentary film and television programming; audio and video public service announcements; research in partnership with groups such as the World Health Organization; publication of books and magazine and newspaper articles; audio programming; and more.

Peacekeeping

Opportunities to fund programs for peacekeeping forces from many countries including relief training; peacebuilding training for the military; leadership curricula; film and television training; audio and video (including podcasts) resources; research in partnership with groups such as the United Nation; publication of books and manuals; staff certification programs; e-learning; resource center (including web) development; and more.

Prisons

Opportunities to fund programs for custodial staff, incarcerated individuals and their families and communities throughout the world, including school curricula; educational film and television programming; certification programs for staff and policy professionals; e-learning; research in partnership with groups such as universities; publication of books and manuals; audio programming (including podcasts); criminal-justice resource center (including web) development; and more.

Schools

Opportunities to fund programs for K-12 (public, private, homeschool) and post-secondary institutions throughout the world including conferences and symposia; curricula; e-learning, documentary film and television educational products; certification programs for policy professionals; research in partnership with groups such as universities; publication of books and guides; audio programming (including podcasts); resource center (including web) development; and more.

Public Information

Opportunities to fund programs impacting broad populations throughout the world including television programming; documentary and independent feature film production; conferences and workshops; publication of books and magazine and newspaper articles; audio programming (radio, podcasts); resource center (including web) development; and more.

Family and Community Health

Opportunities to fund programs impacting families and communities throughout the world including conferences and symposia; university curricula; documentary film and television programming; certification programs for policy professionals; e-learning; microlending initiatives; research in partnership with groups such as the World Health Organization; publication of books and professional articles; audio programming; resource center (including web) development; and more.

A broad range of evidence-based peacebuilding programs have already demonstrated economic and quality of life improvements for populations throughout the world.

Examples are: microlending, preemptive peacekeeping programs, and several prison violence and recidivism reduction initiatives.
